What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to Australians with a permanent or significant disability. So they can access the support they need to live more independently, build skills, and participate fully in the community.

Who is eligible for the NDIS?

You may be eligible for the NDIS if you:

  • Are under 65 years of age

  • Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident

  • Have a permanent or significant disability that affects your daily life

The NDIS is designed for people whose disability means they need support with daily activities, communication, mobility, self-care, or social participation.

Not sure if you qualify? Eligibility can feel confusing; our team can help you understand your options and point you in the right direction, no matter where you are in the process.

How does NDIS funding work?

Once you're approved for the NDIS, you receive an individualised NDIS plan. Your plan outlines your goals and the funding available to help you achieve them.

NDIS funding is broken into three main budget categories:

Core Supports Funding for everyday activities

Things like personal care, household tasks, community participation, and transport.

Capacity Building Supports Funding

To help you build skills and independence over time. Things like therapy, life skills coaching, and support coordination.

Capital Supports Funding

For higher-cost items like assistive technology or home modifications, and specialist disability accommodation (SDA).

Your funding is flexible within each category. You choose the providers and services that work best for you. At Individual Me, we help you make the most of your plan across multiple support types.
